Restylane is Hyaluronic Acid
Beauty Tips & Tricks                                                                             article by Esther Steinberg

     What is Restylane

                           Hyaluronic Acid

Until very recently, only plastic surgeries and laser treatments were used to reduce and eliminate fine lines and wrinkles. Not anymore! Not only do we now have Restylane® injections, derived from Hyaluronic acid, we also have topical serums with the same high concentration of Hyaluronic Acid at our disposal.

All Restylane® products consist of non-animal, stabilized Hyaluronic Acid, a clear, transparent, safe and natural, viscous gels. It is injected into the dermal layer of the skin to smooth out deep folds and wrinkles. By adding volume under the skin, forehead and frown lines, crows feet, nasolabial folds, smile lines, and lines around the lips are greatly reduced. It can augment lips, giving them more volume and definition. Restylane® injections can elevate the skin from cheeks and chin to attain new facial contours. With a syringe and proper application, one can look years younger. Restylane® is considered safe and should leave no scars. The effects last approximately 6 to 12 months and for best results, touch-ups, and follow-up treatments are recommended

Injecting Restylane® however,is a medical procedure. It requires a well trained doctor knowledgeable in the use, storage, and application of specific Restylane® products appropriate for each patient and treatment. It is imperative for him/her to administer the gel into the correct layer of the skin to achieve the desired results.

Research shows minor side effects that include injection-related reactions such as swelling, pain, itching, bruising and tenderness, they usually subside within a few days. Insertion of a needle into lips could contribute to a herpes simplex eruption for those with recurrent facial cold sores.

For more information regarding Restylane® injections consult a dermatologist or plastic surgeon and don’t be shy to ask any question you may have, no matter how silly you may think it sounds.

A more affordable solution for erasing fine lines and wrinkles may lie in topically applied products with Hyaluronic Acid Gel that is very similar to Restylane®. Hyaluronic acid is the medium that fills the spaces between tissue cells, and approximately 56% of the body’s hyaluronic acid is found in the skin. Hyaluronic acid is found in abundance in young skin and diminishes with age. The cells lose the ability to produce it making the skin wrinkled and aged looking. Hyaluronic acid has elastic properties, holds more water than any other natural substance and is unmatched in hydrating properties resulting in increased smoothness, softening and decreased wrinkles. Other benefits include a reduction in - pores size, acne scars, dryness, itching and burning of the skin.

Due to the high cost of Hyaluronic acid, manufacturers of skin    care products use it in small concentrations in their creams. EsKala’s     Smoothing Serum containing the purest, highest quality, highest concentrated of Hyaluronic Acid delivered the most desired results. My 55 year old, ex-smoker client, presented me with a photograph of her lips (seen above) taken after using the serum for 3 months. She never had any implants or injections.
